On Earthquakes and Typhoons

I have come to realize something important about earthquakes. They happen all the time. I haven't been in one lately, but I check religiously the earthquake site, http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsww/ , and those things happen all the time. I thought they were rare but no, I mean all the time! That whole Ring of Fire thing wasn't a joke! So Japan more or less gets an earthquake of some scale about every two weeks or so. And every three weeks we get a typhoon. There is a typhoon going up Japan right now. It is raining like Japan gets paid by the liter. I use to be afraid of natural disasters now I am in two a month! Luckily all the natural disasters I have been in so far have been heavy on the natural and light on the disasters. Let's hope it stays that way.

We had one here yesterday! Well, not here, exactly, but North of here. And we didn't feel it. What am I good for, anyway.

However, what I can do is shake this book called "Handbook of Mathematical Formulas and Integrals" in front of you, because it promises to take those integrals I can't solve and give them what for. At least I hope so. If not, I'll be crying in my bed, like I do every night, into my QM homework.

Now that my family lives in the Portland area, Mount St. Helens is starting to rumble again. Normally, this'd be really cool...cause volcanoes rate pretty high on my list of cool things, but now I have family to worry about. Oh the conflict... As for Ohio, I think today marks the first day of miserably cold Ohio weather. I went out this morning in a T-shirt thinking I'd be good and came back right away for a long sleeve shirt and a jacket. It's so cold this evening I just went ahead and broke out the winter coat. I don't know how early I broke it out last year...but at least this means that I get to start wearing my hat regularly again. Woot.

(Finally tracked you down through Laurence) :-)
