Due to my cruise woes I looked into what it would cost just to fly home, tail between my legs, and right there waiting for me (as if predicting my every move) was reality. In something like November/December of last year United canceled their Kansai <--> O'Hare route. Meaning I'm kinda screwed again. I can still fly United to get to Ohio, but it is a lot more transfers and (unbelievably) more time stuck on airplanes. I have to figure out what I'm going to do with myself. At this point I'm pretty down.
I'm kicking around the idea of just coming home, but it seems a bit silly particularly when one of the options is a layover in Hawaii, and I found a super cheap cruise there. Still I'd prefer to go on the Alaskan cruise but getting there makes getting back to Ohio look easy. I am thinking that I will return to Japan in March of next year anyways as a vacation. Thinking I could hit one location on the way back and then hit the other next time I looked into it and here's the sad truth: there are no cruises in Alaska in March and the Hawaiian cruises cost about double the price. Smacked Down!
I gotta figure this stuff out real soon. I'll keep everyone informed.
