Sometimes my job stinks, but Friday and today were reminders of how sweet and great the kids at Tanigawa can be. Many kids asked me these two days if my family was okay after Katrina. Though this revealed a shocking lack US geography (kidding), it also revealed a real depth of compassion. Many of the kids were really concerned about it, and told me they were worried about my family when they saw the news. It was really touching and revealed a genuine kindness. I have also had to answer a lot of questions about hurricanes and typhoons, which is great that the kids are also showing interest. I am really lucky to spend time with these kids. Somedays I'd do this job for free.
