Mission Accomplished: Accomplished!

Thank god that major combat operations in the Iraq war ended five years ago today (May 1, 2003). I'll always remember President Bush standing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, a sock strategically placed in the crotch of his flight suit's pants, with the banner above proudly rippling above him, "Mission Accomplished". Now that there are over 4,000 US dead, over 30,000 US wounded, and anywhere from 81,000 to 1,100,000 Iraqis dead, our ability to defend ourselves and allies greatly compromised, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, and our reputation in the world in tatters, I sure am glad the Mission was Accomplished, because I can't imagine how bad the war would have gone had major combat operations still have been going on 5 years after May 1, 2003.

Mission Accomplished.
