I spent Christmas in Japan this year. It was sad to be away from friends and family. The payoff will come tomorrow when Katie and I fly to China. But it was kind of a sad day despite the fun being right around the corner. There were at least three known Christmas miracles to occure. The first was that I got a letter and the sender wrote the address in cursive. I am pretty amazed that the letter found its way all the way here. Somewhere out there in the post office there is someone that can read cursive romaji. Bravo to you! The next Christmas miracle is that I got a box of presents from my parents on Christmas day. We were afraid it would not come before, or worse yet, I would miss it in China. But it arrived! I was very happy to get it. The last miracle was that I ordered a pizza for Christmas dinner (it's not turkey but it'll do) by myself. This envolved calling Pizza Hat (as it is known here) because I couldn't do it online. So I talked my way through ordering a pizza. It took about 45 minutes of prep time on my part to prepare for potential questions with reasonable answers, but I got a hot and yummy pizza.
It was an odd Christmas. So Merry Christmas, Happy Hanuka, Super Kwanzaa, Great Break, and Have a Great New Years. I will be off to China for New Years. So there may not be an update out of me for a while. I have updated my flickr site with a ton of train pictures and some from Laurence's visit. Enjoy and expect a big update of pictures from the Middle Country when I return.
